If you haven’t done so already, or are not already located in Columbus, you can now start planning your move to Columbus! Ohio State has a Graduate and Professional Student Living Guide and has a ton of great resources for students moving to Columbus. Let me know if you have any questions: I love being in Columbus and would be happy to offer additional advice.
You can find information on parking at the Campus Parc website. Campus Parc is where you can purchase a parking pass and find FAQs for parking on campus. Ohio State and Columbus have an extensive bus system as well. The Campus Area Bus System (CABS) are provided by the University and are free to students, faculty, and staff. The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) system provides service to the greater Columbus community, and is also free to students who pay the on-campus University fees. You can find more information on the bus systems at Transportation and Traffic Management website.
The Ohio State App is very useful for tracking bus schedules, providing walking directions in real time and helping you to navigate campus.
Residency
After 12 months of living in Ohio, students can establish Ohio residency and drastically reduce their tuition and fees. See the Registrar’s website for details. Also note that Ohio established a new provision called “Forever Buckeye” which allows students to establish in-state residency if they graduated from an Ohio high school. If you want to establish residency, you should review the procedure and plan accordingly.
