SLS Application

The Parker Hannifin – MAE Student Lecture Series (SLS) is back in Autumn 2020. This is a perfect opportunity for Graduate (Phd, MS, BS/MS) and Undergraduate Honours students to present their research work in a constructive learning environment. The Student Lecture Series seeks to:

  • Provide a great platform for students to practice presenting their work. Especially students who are about to give a conference talk, candidacy exam, final graduate, or undergraduate thesis defense.
  • Promote visibility of research to students (undergraduate and graduate) and all other interested persons.
  • Facilitate discussion and exchange of ideas amongst students and faculty of all MAE research fields and levels.

This semester the lecture series is scheduled to start on November 18th (Wednesday) and would be conducted virtually considering the current pandemic situation. The scope of the talk is at the discretion of the presenter, but presenters please be aware the audience will be far more technically diverse than what is encountered at conferences. SLS also provides the students with an opportunity to choose their preferred format of the talk;

  • 20 min presentation followed by 10 min of questions (simulates a conference presentation).
  • 45 min presentation followed by 15 min of questions (simulates a thesis defense).

This semester, Parker Hannifin Student Lecture Series will be presenting an MAE department coffee cup to all presenters! All interested students are encouraged to fill out the form belowBased on the response received the lectures will be scheduled accordingly and presenters would be notified at least two weeks in advance. In case of further questions please contact Lokaditya Ryali at ryali.2@osu.edu.
