Running: This Artifact comes mainly from my time here at Ohio State. I have always enjoyed running, but I started to do it much more frequently after coming to college since I had more free time. The photo on the top is my bib number from the first 5k race I completed at OSU. On the bottom is Antrim Park Lake, which is about a 6.5 mile run from campus. Fellow HES member Teddy Du and I did not even know this lake existed until getting half way through our first half-marathon run together. It really exemplifies why I like to run; it helps relieve stress and I can go out and explore the world and see what nature has to offer. I can all the while get some good exercise too, of course.
Music: My involvement in my high school’s music program shaped who I am as a person today. Band was something I could always be proud of, and it was where I spent a majority of my time every day. I also sang in my high school’s choir my senior year of high school. The top picture is a barbershop quartet some friends and I decided to form towards the end of our senior year of high school. On the left is my performance with 2015 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. Being in the two groups above were the culmination of what had been the most incredible four years of my life. I was one of 125 musicians in the country to be selected for the band, and I had the most amazing time putting together the show we performed. In addition, singing barbershop style music was one of the most fun things I have ever done in my entire life. I hope to continue with music for as long as I am alive even if it is not my career path because it is what keeps me happy. I can’t imagine a life without it.
Hello! My name is Josh Mack, and I am a first year mechanical engineering student. I am from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and I am the first of my family to go to Ohio State. I am involved with the Athletic Band and Collegiate Winds programs here, and I also enjoy singing and am in a Barbershop Quartet. You could say music is my second passion aside from engineering. Additionally, I enjoy running and would like to participate in the Columbus Marathon at some point during the next four years. I hope to attend graduate school after receiving my bachelor’s degree, though I am not quite sure what I want type of job I am looking to get.
