AWaRE Project

Appalachian Water Research Exchange

This is an interdisciplinary research project that combines social science, community science, and laboratory science to understand individual and community perceptions of tap water quality in Appalachia. We collected 24 samples of tap water from the Northwest Regional Water District in Scioto County. Parameters such as DBPs, microbial indicators, and metals were analyzed in samples. We also conducted interviews and constructed cognitive maps with each individual that participated in the study.
