Year in Review
This past year was a learning curve. It entailed making new friends, finding new ways to study, and learning to live on my own in a new city. For me, I used this opportunity to explore. I joined new clubs and learned about different careers in medicine. For incoming freshmen, I would say put yourself out there. College is a big adjustment, but it’s also a chance to start fresh, and if theres something you’ve always wanted to do, go for it.
G.O.A.L.S.
In order to achieve the 20 hours of service this past year, I volunteered through Ohio State’s community commitment day in which I helped clean out and prepare an elementary school for the school year. I also volunteered and made thanksgiving crafts with Alzheimers patients. Additionally, I made paper roses that were handed out in order to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis. I am excited to continue volunteering throughout the summer and my coming years here at Ohio State.
For my capstone project, I volunteered at a summer camp for people in the Greater Cincinnati with disabilities. To learn more about my specific role, I attached a document overviewing my experience.

About Me
Hi I’m Gracelyn Lyons and I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio. In my free time I like to run, attend sporting events, and watch science fiction movies. Additionally, I am involved in the Champions Program and the Patient Advisory Council at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Through the Champions Program I have given a speech to the Cincinnati Children’s Board of Trustees and attended a dinner with members on the CCHMC boards. As a member of the Patient Advisory Council, I help discuss ways to remodel the hospital to make it accommodating to future and current patients, as well as putting on events to raise money for the hospital. I am currently undecided in major, but I hope to become a Pediatric Radiologist in the future. I consider myself a kinesthetic learner because I retain information best by experiencing it myself.
