Personal Playlist Project

  1. Que Sera Sera -Doris Day
    1. This song is one of the most meaningful songs for me. “Que sera sera” is something that my Papa told his grandchildren, and that small saying is one that gets me through tough times by reminding me of my Papa and by reminding me that everything will be okay. When I listen to this song, I am reminded of all of the good times that I had with my family when I was little, and it just makes me happy.
  2. Breakaway -Kelly Clarkson
    1. This song is important to me because it reminds me of my Nana. I am not entirely sure why it reminds me of her, but every time I listen to it (especially when I was younger) I am filled with nostalgia and joy. In addition, I danced to this song for my senior solo. This meant a lot to me for a couple of reasons. One is that it was already a special song, and the other is that I felt that that song represented my feelings toward growing up.
  3. Don’t Stop Believing -Journey
    1. This song reminds me of middle school and high school. For some reason this was the song everyone always belted at the top of their lungs at the end of every “party.” From the end of the year drama club party to every high school dance. This song was always played, and everyone always sang along. Now when I listen to this song I am reminded of all of those good times.
  4. Even My Dad Does Sometimes -Ed Sheeran
    1. I love this song because it reminds me that nobody is perfect. It reminds me that everyone suffers and it is okay to be sad or scared. In addition, it is a beautiful song that I just love to listen to.
  5. Fight Song -Rachel Platten
    1. I love this song because it reminds me of my best friend. It reminds me of our senior trip when we were just being silly and created a stupid dance to this song. It was like we were little kids, and it was such a fun time and good memory. I also like this song because it is empowering to listen to. It reminds me to be strong and fierce!
  6. Dancing Queen -Abba
    1. This song is just a happy and silly song that I love. I love it for a couple of reasons. First, my mom and I loved watching Mamma Mia together when I was younger, and this song reminds me of that. Also, my mom played this song for me on my 17th birthday and it made me laugh. I think this song is great because it is such a happy song, and I love to dance. Therefore, I find this song very appropriate for me.
  7. For Good -Wicked
    1. I love this song because it reminds me of some of the best people in my life.  I love this song because I believe that people do come into our lives for a reason. It reminds me of my best friends and family. Before, I loved this song because it reminded me of my friends, but now this song is even more important to me because it reminds me of my grandma. This was one of her favorite songs, and she attributed this song to her best friend.
  8. Defying Gravity -Wicked
    1. I will always love this song because it the song to which I did my favorite duet. I did this duet with one of my best friends at the time. My family loved this dance, and to this day it is one of my favorite dances I have ever done. This dance was so much fun, and it was even better that I did it with one of my best friends. Even though I am not as close with this friend now as I was, I still adore this song. Again, this song reminds me to not let anyone hold me back and always be the best I can be.
  9. Blackbird -The Beatles
    1. I love this song because it was one of my favorite solos to dance to. My dance teacher asked me to do a contemporary pointe dance to this song. It was one of her favorite songs, and the fact that she specifically asked me to do this dance meant a lot to me. In addition I love the lyrics of this song, “take these broken wings and learn to fly.”
  10. Won’t Go Home Without You -Maroon 5
    1. I love this song because my cousin (who is like my best friend) and I would listen to this song together every time we saw each other. This is “our song” and I will always love it for that reason. This is also just a good song in general; it is very catchy!
