Maintaining Motivation Blog Post

This module mostly focused on the conclusions of the course and all of the material that we have covered throughout it. We retook our time management test and saw our improvements within our score and took time to reflect back. Much of the focus now is to hold the motivation to achieve success and to not falter backward and not use what we have been taught within our coursework. The largest majority of the material was aimed at making sure we properly manage our time and how to effectively tackle problems with smart solutions. A lot of this focus tells us to create valued lists with differing levels of importance on our tasks so that we might approach the most important ones first. The last piece that we focused on was then taking a course evaluation post so that we might evaluate our time within the course and its usefulness. In conclusion over everything that was taught within the course, I believe that I have much to take away and still more to consider within my learning. I have learned to focus on making a meaningful schedule and sticking to my priorities so that I might achieve my goal.

Searching and Researching Blog Post

This module was mostly focused on using good research material and our abilities to discover and submit those. We were asked to submit an example of such and to find a way of describing their usefulness. Ideas from this module are useful going forward in use of all other course materials and achieving an overall degree to put into use. The focus on better strategies of note taking and researching are incredibly helpful in the other course work. The most important takeaway is to note the reliability and utility of your research material. The overall goal is to realize the importance of the links and resources that we attach to our research and to make sure the information is all good so that the papers we write are correct, on topic, and with the right information. The sources that we include make the overall topic either much broader or if it is not reliable enough make the information completely fall apart and scramble. In conclusion over the unit it is about the sources we often include into our works and being sure that they are useful and reliable so that we may achieve greater academic success.

The most useful thing that I learned within this module is effective note taking strategies that would be useful within a classroom or in an online environment. Given that many of our resources can be found online we may create a physical notepad or an online word document to focus on what was included within the unit. Most things do not stay attached within our memory for too long unless we practice upon them. This is an important distinction as some of my classes are focused online while others were only physical sessions where notes are all that you leave with rather than links and resources. A specific example of something from this module that I have put into practice is focused listening skills and keeping important topics noted where I may revisit them. Ideas from this module I could put into practice for the future are broader focuses over the topic and taking more notes rather than just the specific highlights. Advice that I would give to students based on what I’ve learned is practice note taking with several strategies involved. In conclusion over the unit the main focus was mostly over note strategies and improving on our weak spots over them.

Web-Enhanced Reading and Study Strategies Blog Post

The most useful thing that I learned in this module is focusing on making things long term memory rather than working memory. Sensory memory is included within this lesson but is more an immediate thing than focusing on the retaining methods of memory. Working memory only lasts for a few seconds longer than sensory memory however with more encoding and retrieval from the other forms of memory we can encode it within our long-term memory. Memorization and the importance of it within learning is very valuable because if you do not retain the information you are taught you do not truly take a lesson away from what was presented. Studying is an important topic within this module that focuses on repeating tasks and information until they are locked within our memory and able to be retrieved later. The longer we spend on these tasks the more likely we are to retain them and be able to recall upon them at later stages when they are necessary. An important piece added within this topic to be mindful of doing several tasks at once as it may affect your results and your memory within it.

The most useful thing that I learned within this course is using tools within the google Gmail app or attachments around it such as website blockers. Unique tools such as the tasks or calendar tabs help to maintain schedules and to also create unique priorities that you can value and create deadlines for. The more appropriate tasks can be added first and checked off same as creating a list within a physical notepad.

Some ideas from this module that I can practice in the future are using these tools that I printed out as well as attached within the unit for submission. Advice that I would give to students for the future is to bring a planner physical or digital and to also bring a notepad to sketch what you need on. This not only goes for focusing on schoolwork but planning for shopping or finding appropriate times to socialize or to focus on studying.

Maintaining a priority list is the large focus of the work today. In conclusion use some of the external tools provided within such places as Gmail and certain website blockers but also use physical things such as notepads to maintain important information in reliable places.

Specific things that I have used within this module to effectively use my time have been planning ahead and creating a valued list of importance. Within this schedule my coursework is currently at the top of my list and then I work downward to appropriately make sure I complete my classes on time. I find that using a planner to manage time is of incredible importance as much of the day is unpredictable and rather chaotic at times. The online test for seeing how effective you use your time linked below helped me notice that I demonstrate at least some effectiveness in using my time. My score was a 48 which is the lower end of the highest tier however it still allows me to notice I am taking steps within the right direction. I am sure to take note of things within the future to continue to create a more efficient planner to get through my other classes as I am a full-time student within the summer so all of my classes are somewhat accelerated in pace than what is typical. My take from this module is to plan ahead, create a value of importance list, develop a time oriented schedule, and stay focused.
