Research & Publications

I primarily conduct quantitative, experimental research concerning media use, media effects, and message designs in several communication contexts, including science, health, and risk communication, as well as entertainment media and narrative.

My two broad research interest, the role of the self in media processes and message designs in science, health, & environmental communication, are detailed in their respective pages. Any requests for stimuli, manipulations, or measures, as well as inquiries about my ongoing research projects can be sent to luong.31@osu.edu.

My dissertation serves to integrate these two research areas, as it focuses on how self-related motivations can influence the selection, processing, and effects of health and environmental messages, and thus suggests more effective message designs.
