Sometimes, the online reading is too long to remember, but I didn’t do any note for the reading I have read before. I remember the key idea of the author, but for writing paper and want to use this source, the specific sentence in the long pages reading is need to be copy and cite it in your paper. Thus I sometimes read the long paper again in order to find the sentence which is useful for me.
For note taking, I used abbreviation before, but it’s awkward that when I review the note, sometimes I can’t understand it. The logical or the line of thinking I can’t remember. This problem may be caused by my note taking habit. Although I manage my note during taking note, but I usually skip some part of the reading in order to finish it quickly. I thought this may not affect me at most time, but when the problem shows up, it’s hard to solve it. “Reviewing your notes for completeness, accuracy, and usefulness before closing the reading materials will save you time and energy later.”(2004) By follow this suggestion, I think I can do the note better.
Learning how to take note efficiently during reading is essential for me to solve my problem. When I begin to read the readings, it’s effective that find the outline of the structure of the readings which can help me to find the part I want accurate. And during the reading, I think summarize the mean idea of the author when I see the new section titles or headings of the materials. Different part may have author’s different thoughts, if I didn’t take note and keep reading, it’s easy for me to forget the statement of the last part or be confused by these two different part. Therefore, writing the note frequently during reading can really help me to solve my problem. “Writers commonly use the opening and closing paragraphs of a section to introduce and summarize the essential materials that will be discussed in the section.”(2004) Reading these paragraph can also help me to increase efficiency.
