I am currently studying Agricultural Engineering with a specialization in machinery systems. This means I am currently learning how to design machinery that increases agricultural production while trying to reduce the amount of labor and energy needed for such machinery. These mechanical systems I study are for producing crops and transportation, utilizing GPS/GIS applications, computerized controls, lasers, digital imaging, and robotics. I have taken many physics courses and Mechanical Engineering courses which allows me to be very versatile as I can work in the agricultural industries and non-agricultural industries that involve machine design and engineering skills for mechanical applications.
Throughout my coursework, I have learned how to complete tasks in large or small teams. I know when to be a leader and take charge, but I also understand how to respect the opinions of my teammates and how to support them. I also have used many different types of software that various industries utilize. Such software programs include MATLAB, ArcGIS, and SolidWorks. I can use these platforms proficiently in a manner in which I can handle complicated calculations, create soil and drainage maps, and model real-world components. I am extremely excited to start my CAPSTONE design project next school year where I can design a real-world system.
