About me

Personal Profile

Hello, everyone! My name is Weihang Lu. If you think it is hard to remember or pronounce, you can just call my nickname, Luke. I currently live in Lawrence Tower on West Lane Avenue. This place was a hotel in the past, so there will be surely plenty of place if you want to visit :). I have a bunch of interests, from musical instrument (accordion, saxophone) to sports(tennis, basketball, badminton), from books to video game. I am fascinated into trying new things. I love to make changes— that may be one of the important reasons why I choose America to study abroad, a country full of innovation! Therefore, if you meet some fun things and want to try, I will be so glad if you call me and let me join you. I grew up in a core family. My dad, my mum and I consist of this family. One interesting fact about my family is my family name follows my mum’s. That is really rare in China because for most time child follow their father’s family name. I still do not know why they decide to give that family name to me. This is the myth of my family. I hope some day I will figure it out.

I grew up in Shanghai, China. This metropolis has much faster life pace than Columbus does. However, I like Shanghai so much because I am a young teenager who have endless passion towards life. At the time I arrived at Columbus, it gave me a perfect first impression because the city is far less crowded than Shanghai does. I prefer to live in a place that it is not so crowded of people. Before high school, everything in my life was what a typical Chinese student would experience, going to a local Chinese high school and take a Chinese university and probably start working after graduation. Suddenly, everything changes in a winter vacation. I went to an exchange program in winter holidays years ago. That experience changed my life. I went to a high school in New Hampshire and studied there for months. I suddenly realized this model is what I want. I have already got tired of exam-oriented education system in my country. Hence, the idea of studying abroad appeared in my mind and motivated me to be here, at Ohio. I enjoy learning different subjects as well as sports. Tennis, basketball and badminton are all my hobbies. I also started my own Taichi club in High School, which later received good reputation from school. Taichi is part of traditional Martial Arts culture. As you can see how restless I am.:)

One of the reasons why I chose Ohio State University as my destination to study abroad is complex. First of all, this school has a huge size, both for the campus and the number of student and faculty. This kind of environment enables me to meet people from different culture and gain much more life experience at the same time. Besides that, the fisher college of business is a well-known business college around United States. As a result, I plan to study accounting in the future so I choose OSU. For the reason why I want to specialize in accounting is that I feel quite pleased when dealing with numbers. I think taking a major that is related to number is a good idea. In addition, I want to study something pragmatic in business college. Another reason is that my father works in a bank in Shanghai and taught me many about economy and market before. With this sort of influence, I get pretty interested in business. After the period of application, I found my destination at the end. As a result, I am here at Fisher College of Business and plan to study accounting in the near future. It is really pleased to meet so many interesting people like you here at Ohio State University.

  1. Hi, Weihang. There are some problems of your article appearance. You can try to submit it again to make it completed.

  2. Hi Luke! You seem like a very pragmatic guy! Making the decision to head to New Hampshire to take a few months for high school study was certainly a brave thing to do. I myself visited Shanghai back in 2010 for the World Expo and made it into the US Pavilion! Did you go?

Best of luck in your Fisher College studies and ALWAYS remember to get out there and speak to Americans!

  3. Due to last time the website’s problem, I didn’t read your essay very carefully. So this time I gain deep understand of you. I agree with your idea of different environment and places give us different ways of thinking. Most importantly, I thought study some stuff about economics at OSU is a great choice if you want to work in the business area in the future!
