Lost Waters Landscape History Project

Celebrate Earth Day with us on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025

Did you know that a stream used to run across the South Oval and through Mirror Lake Hollow? Come see what this landscape might have looked like over 100 years ago through our Virtual Reality Mirror Lake tent and Augmented Reality Stream on the South Oval. Learn how to read the imprint of this stream on the landscape. Then, join a parade that follows the stream’s path. Our procession will tracethe historic Neil Run waterway through the South Oval, beyond the Ohio Union, and into the neighborhoods to the East of High Street, to end at Iuka Ravine – where the water that once flowed there has left an enduring mark on the land.

Event Details: The Virtual Reality tent will be open from 1pm to 3pm on the patio outside Pomerene Hall. The Augmented Reality story trail will start on the South Oval behind Hale Hall.

This event will connect with the Living Art and Ecology Lab’s 2025 Earth Day Parade at 4:30pm on the 22nd. We will be meeting on the South Oval behind the Faculty Club, following the path of old Neil Run from Mirror Lake to Iuka Ravine – more information on the parade can be found here.
