Meeting #2
Date: January 15, 2020
Time: 12:45pm (during Lab 1A)
Members Present: Zach Lohrman, Nick Webb, Jen Lin
Meeting Items:
- Evaluation of individual design
- Team members presented individual designs and their respective pros and cons.
- Each design was analyzed and evaluated by the entire team.
- Two designs utilized a gear and wheel system and one used propellers.
- Preliminary designs for vehicle subsystems
- Propulsion method will be a driving wheel on the rail, rather than propellers.
- The wheel is expected to provide more control authority over the vehicle, especially when accelerating, decelerating, and traversing inclines.
- A retention wheel will be used to prevent the vehicle from derailing in corners and under high stress events.
- A gear system of some kind will be used to increase power and provide engine braking on the decline section.
- Gears will allow the provided electric motor to generate much more torque than the stock system.
- Propulsion method will be a driving wheel on the rail, rather than propellers.
