Columbus To-Do List #2

On Monday, November 26, I went with Drew Cressman, a member of my group in HES, to the Mexican restaurant and bar Cazuelas Grill on North High Street. I ordered the enchiladas suizas, which is what I always order went I visit Mexican restaurants. The food was incredible and we received pretty good service. The restaurant was very easy to find and the exterior looks as any other house on the street, except for a large terrace leading to the entrance and a large outdoor seating area. The food was definitely my favorite part of my visit. The music that was playing in the restaurant was very lou, which was my least part of my visit. I definitely plan on going to Cazuelas Grill again, however next time,  I plan on sitting further from the speaker. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend and I hope to eat here again soon.

Artifact #2

For my second artifact, I chose to speak about an honor that I received in high school. I was awarded a valedictorian metal and was asked to speak at my graduation. Being honored as Valedictorian of my class was the peak of my high school career. This honor has provided me with opportunities to pursue my education even further at The Ohio State University. If this was not achieved, I do not believe I would be where I am today. I plan on continuing this level of excellence in my studies at Ohio State. Three of the top four students in my class, including myself, all went into engineering majors. The competition that helped us succeed during high school will continue into college and I hope we all share the same success.

Columbus To-Do List #1

For this assignment, I decided to visit Kafe Kerouac. It is a coffee shop located on North High Street, Columbus, Ohio. I was unable to join my group to Whits Frozen Custard. I was off campus and did not have enough time to get there to join them. A Whits Frozen Custard is located in Athen, Ohio, about twenty minutes from where I live, and I had been to one before. I took this opportunity to try something new. The exterior of the coffee shop was very plain and I would have never found it without maps on my phone. On the inside, the place is divided into two rooms. One room features the bar where coffee and alcoholic beverages are sold plus a few tables and chairs where many people where studying. The other room’s walls were lined with books and many people were also in the studying. The different drinks were named after different influential literature authors such as Mary Shelley, Ernest Hemingway, and Mark Twain. It noise level wasn’t exactly quiet so I would not recommend this as a place to go and study when living off campus. The coffee that I bought was decent however.

About Me

My name is Brad Logan. I am a freshman at The Ohio State University. My plans at this university are be admitted into the Chemical Engineering major and graduate within four years with a degree in Chemical Engineering. I am currently participating and enrolled in the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars program. I am from Pomeroy, Ohio, a small village on the Ohio River in southeastern Ohio. I graduated from Meigs High School with Honors at the top of my class. I shared the title of Valedictorian with three of my classmates. Throughout high school, we competed and pushed each other to strive for success and pursue excellence in our academic endeavors. My best subjects in school were always mathematics and science. Particularly I enjoyed chemistry and calculus class in high school. I chose to major in Chemical Engineering as I thought this could bring my two favorite subjects together. I participated in three varsity sports in high school, basketball, track,  and cross-country. At this time, I do not have any interest in joining any intramural sports teams or clubs. I do plan on working towards a minor in business. I have always enjoyed mathematics and I am excited to take other courses in that subject area. I am thrilled yet anxious to begin my higher education at this esteemed university. I would like to wish every students, along this journey with me, to have a wonderful year full of excitement and success.
