Research

Liyanage Lab  mainly focuses on understanding the role of the innate and adaptive immune systems during chronic viral infections and development of novel strategies to prevent and control chronic viral infections such as HIV.

Current studies focus on

  1. Understand the role of Natural Killer (NK)/Innate Lymphoid Cells (ILC) and innate memory in the HIV vaccines (RV 144 like vaccine studies).
  2. Discovery of novel adjuvants that enhance HIV vaccine efficacy.
  3. Explore the regulatory role of NK/ILCs (on B and T cells).
  4. Understanding the immunopathology of HIV/TB, HIV/HCV and HIV/Zika co-infections and Dengue infection.
