Year in Review

I have really come far as a person in many aspects. This university has changed me for the better and I am very proud to be a buckeye. In leadership, I now volunteer myself and my time to those less fortunate, which has caused me to become a more understanding person. Also, I have become more involved in clubs (like pre-dent, ukulele, and ski team) and activities that I never thought I would partake in. I’m glad that I took the jump out of my comfort zone, because I have discovered myself. My personality has evolved into one that I am very euphoric with. In only one semester I have changed from an individual that was kind of a follower to one that leads people and tries different things. The Ohio State University is a wonderful university that I am glad to be a part of.

Artifacts

My childhood almost killed me. In my childhood I suffered from Brown’s disease. Eventually my peers in school taunted me about it and poked fun at me about my disease. This caused me to go into depression, one that caused me to contemplate suicide. During this hopeless and dark time I thought I was alone, helplessĀ until I received a blanket from my grandma. The blanket, at first glance, seemed like an unimportant and useless gift, but once she explained to me that it had been her grandmother’s blanket I felt otherwise. She told me that her grandma gave it to her when she was struggling just like me, and she explained that she triumphed with it. After that day every time I would look at the blanket I would think of how my grandma beat her depression and became the great person that she is today. Later, I would discover the lesson to never judge a book by its cover.download

About Me

IMG_4283

Hello, my name is Alex Livingston. I was born in Brecksville, Ohio in 1997. I attended schooling there all the way until high school. I played soccer, volleyball, lacrosse and diving there. Furthermore, I was a part of the Band, Orchestra, Choir, Chinese Club, Model UN, Mock Trial, Biology Club, Cornhole Club, and Student Council. I have a younger brother whom is in 10th grade and a dog named snowy (shih-tzu/maltese mix).

My life has been a series of ups and downs, but I’ve always had soccer to help me get through it. When I go out on the field I can forget about all my problems and focus on the one thing that matters at that time, the game. Also, my teammates were always there to help me both in the game and outside of it. They always knew what to say or do to make me reflect positively upon life. Just like I had a goal in soccer, I have a goal in life. This goal is to get accepted into dental school. This is not an easy goal by any means, but with dedication and hard work, I know I can reach it.

Here at Ohio State University I am a part of the ski team, microbiology club and the pre-dent club. All of these clubs have helped me to become more involved at OSU along with making new friends on the way. More about me is that I am a part of the Biological Sciences Scholars program a scholars group at OSU. My majors are biology and business and I am pre-dentistry. All in all, there isn’t just one attribute that defines me and that’s just how I like to be known as, a dynamic person.
