  3. NOTE: in 2020 the Fairfield County Jr. Fair Sale was ‘partial terminal’ and all exhibitors had the opportunity to take their market animal home unless it was the Champion or Reserve Champion beef, swine, lamb or goat. The decision for 2021 about terminal or partial terminal has yet to be made. Regardless, learn more about this option was handled in 2020, and the considerations as this choice is made in this recent 4-H blog post: Market animals may go home this year . . . carefully consider that option!
    • If you make the decision to take home your animal in 2020, you must print, complete, and bring two copies for each exhibitor per species to weigh-in. Take Home Forms are due at weigh-in, no exceptions. Click here to access the form: 2020 Market Animal Release
  4. Returning next year (in 2021), all Fairfield County market animals will be terminal, partial terminal, or non-terminal (NOTE: at their 1/19/21 meeting, the Sr. Fair Board deferred this decision to Committee for the present time . . . announcement with details coming soon). “Terminal” means a show in which all livestock entered in the show are sent directly to slaughter or a licensed livestock facility no later than or immediately following the conclusion of the exhibition. “Partial Terminal” means a show in which no fewer than the grand champion and the reserve grand champion in each show or market class of livestock are sent directly to slaughter or to a licensed livestock facility no later than or immediately following the conclusion of the exhibition. “Non-Terminal” means a show in which no livestock are required to be slaughter. (As defined in 901-19-01, Ohio’s Livestock Tampering Exhibition Rules). See each specie for distinction in “Market Classes” for the type of show.
  5. in 2020 all but the Champion and Reserve Champion beef, swine, lamb and goat market animals will be released after their show is complete.
  6. The following sales commissions will be deducted from the Junior Fair Exhibitor’s checks: Individuals 4%, Groups 2%, Packer Only 1%, Dairy Products 1%, Dairy Goat Products 1%, add-ons 1%.
  7. 4-H and FFA Advisors can pick up their club/chapter buyer lists from the OSU Extension Office no earlier than Tuesday, October 20th, 2020.
  8. Exhibitors must submit a stamped thank you note to their advisor prior to November 1st. Advisors will be required to turn in their Buyer Checklist with verification of thank you notes sent in order to receive an exhibitor’s check.
  9. Checks will be available the first Saturday in December for the head Advisors of 4-H and FFA to pick-up. These advisors will be responsible for the distribution of checks in their club/chapter. If a check is not cashed within the specified 90 day period from the check date, there will be a Stop Payment Fee deduction imposed and a replacement check issued to the exhibitor. If checks are not picked up the first Saturday in December, they will be deposited back into the Sale Committee Fund.

Additional information:

  • Again this year every market turkey, duck or chicken will go through the sale either individually or in a group. Regardless there will not be a packer bid for poultry this year that exhibitors are required to accept. Similar to 2016 and prior, it will be the responsibility of the exhibitor to decide whether to process their birds and give them to their sale buyer, market them privately, or take them home.
  • Blackberry Photography will once again spend the week taking exhibitor photos during the Fair for fair publicity purposes, for use on the sale cards buyers receive, or for purchase by exhibitors. Exhibitors may contact Blackberry Photography through their website, via Facebook, or email.
