Buyer Info for 2024

  1. All potential buyers  – even past buyer – must register at the sale office located in the Feeder Creek Vet Show Arena before the sale begins. To expedite the registration process, you may PRE-REGISTER at this link: http://go.osu.edu/FairfieldSaleBuyer.
  2. From time to time, multiple buyers combine resources to purchase an animal. In this case, in order to appropriately invoice each buyer, a Multiple Bidder/Buyer Form should be completed and submitted to the sale clerk. Forms will be available on sale day.
  3. Buyers who are not the winning bidder on a particular animal may choose to add dollars to the winning bid. This is accomplished by completing the Add-On Buyer Form (available in the sale office on sale days). Forms should be submitted with payment to the sale clerk. Please note that in order to receive Add-on monies the animal AND youth being added to must be in the sale. The Add-on Buyer form along with payment should be submitted to the sale clerk by 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12th. Buyer Add-On Forms should be completed by the Buyer, NOT the EXHIBITOR/PARENT.
  4. All animals will sell for PREMIUM BIDS ONLY. The amount the buyer bids is the amount the buyer pays if the buyer chooses not to KEEP the animal and instead TURN it to the packer. The buyer may also choose to KEEP the animal to have processed for freezer meat.
  5. If the buyer wants to KEEP the animal(s) they will pay their premium bid PLUS the market value shown on the sale bill, and complete a destination sheet to indicate the animal’s final destination at the completion of the sale. More details on KEEP or TURN options for your purchases are linked here.
  6. Settlement of purchases needs to be made the night of the sale with exceptions defined by the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA).
  7. Purchaser will pay the full amount of their purchase to the Sale Committee (unless otherwise noted, i.e. TURN or resale).
  8. Checks will be made out to “Ohio Fair Services
  9. Purchasers may resell or TURN animals during the sale to the packer-bidder, if there is one for that specie.
  10. Buyers must finalize arrangements prior to the start of the fair for the hauling and/or pickup of their KEEP animals. Because the Champions must be delivered to Bay Packing, the Sale Committee can help with delivery of KEEP animals destined for Bay Packing. Visit this link for more detail about having your purchased beef, sheep, hog, or goat processed for your home freezer.
  11. If you can not attend the sale, or do not want to purchase a specific animal, you are encouraged to consider participating in the Buyers Club.
