I visited payscale.com in order to research two career options that would suit my job preferences. A total of five options were provided and I selected the following two jobs to further investigate: Technical Editor and User Experience Designer using the payscale.com research link.

Technical Editor

My test results show that my first suitable occupation is the Technical Editor. The task of this work is to edit the text with various creative programs in different companies, and independently or assist others to edit and publish clear and understandable technical documents according to the needs of the company. This position requires accurate writing and excellent communication skills, as well as close attention to details. I think this job is very suitable for me because I am sensitive to the details of everything and have a strong capacity to observe. Writing is also my specialty and hobby. I love reading all kinds of texts and thinking about the relevance of the details. I think this work is closely related to the divergent thinking I am good at. It can effectively understand the company’s intention and translate it into written text to help technicians clearly understand how to operate and implement it. The average salary for a Technical Editor is $59,671。 Because this is the right job for me, I will give full play to my strengths and talents, and I think the salary is also satisfying. The satisfaction of the technical editor was 3.8 out of 5. Some people think that the salary is not enough. I think we can earn more by working as a part-time technical editor in different companies.

User Experience Designer

My second professional recommendation is a User Experience Designer. The task of this profession is to design attractive and functional products for the target population. The designer is responsible for the design process from the model stage to the final product, including posters or software applications. This position requires knowledge of psychology and sociology to better understand the needs of users, as well as the use of software technology.

It has some overlapping features compared with the career I want. I like to do some innovative design and have a lot of new ideas. I am good at accurately and quickly understand the needs of others, and make expansion, reasonable design products. Because I often study some art-related disciplines, so I am good at doing some visual design. Besides, because my major is media, I understand social media and the needs of the public. I know how to convey some information clearly and get good feedback. But I’m not good at technical production, so I should work with others in a team. The average salary for a user experience designer is $75180, and the satisfaction is 4 out of 5, which is very high. However, the difficulty and competitive pressure of this work are also massive. It is necessary to have appropriate opportunities to test the continuous innovation of my thinking. These characteristics make me feel a little afraid, but I can also try.

Best Career Option for Me

If I had to choose between two positions, I would prefer Technical Editor. My previous activity experience, personality and interests are most consistent with this field. Divergent thinking and creativity are attractive. Although this job requires me to further explore more opportunities and participate in the tasks of different companies, I am willing to challenge it because it is the field that I am fancy about. I have great confidence in my care and keen observation. In addition, in this job, I can try to contact and deal with more people in different fields, which also satisfies my pursuit of a fresh life.
