Resume 1:19:20

Here is the most current version of my resume. Though I have not yet had an internship or worked with a professor in research, I have gained many other professional/technical skills through my time in Mount so far. Being a Media and Archives Committee chair, I helped run the Parent and Family Reception and the Mount 20th Celebration Ceremony. Through running these events, I gained experience of using AV to set up PowerPoints and music, public speaking skills, project management, photography, Keynote, iMovie, and various new leadership skills. Having to build lesson plans and follow strict deadlines helped shape my event planning skills and will advance my career in Communications. Having these skills on my resume will propel me to attain my desired job of event planning/director of communications and marketing for potentially a nonprofit organization.

Artifact #1

My first Artifact is a letter sent to me by the nonprofit organization Impact with Hope. I do not have a photo of the letter on hand here at OSU, but it means quite a lot to me. The organization Impact With Hope is a nonprofit that helps support areas of crisis around the country and internationally. I was involved with one of their dehydrated food packing meals when I was 16 years old, and ever since then I have always wanted to do one. I have always had a passion for service, and saw this as an opening to take it into my own hands. When the opportunity arose in my National Honor Society as a service project, I decided to take the leap of faith and run with it. I had to work with many local businesses asking for grants or any sort of donation for my project, because I had to raise $3,000 to have a packing event take place at my school. Eventually, after much negotiation and patience, I achieved my goal.

With that experience, I gained many skills with working with adults, managing money and coordinating a big event to take place at my school. In just two hours we packaged 10,000 meals to go to victims of tropical storms in the south. A key lesson I learned is that I cannot do it all myself, but I need a good network of people supporting me, guiding me and helping me along the way. This will hopefully transfer to my college experience in some way, whether it be continuing to help with service projects or running multiple of my own, but whatever may come up, I know I have the courage to take it on full force. In the end, the letter recognized my achievement, and made me quite proud of the impact I had in the area of hunger in our country.
