4-H Urban Immersion Project

Ohio 4-H is looking for 4-H’ers ages 15-18 to apply for the 4-H Urban Immersion Project. 4-H Urban Immersion Project

The 4-H Urban Immersion Project (UIP) is an Ohio 4-H initiative that combines cross-cultural learning, teamwork and service learning in the urban environment of Washington, DC.  This year marks the 10th anniversary of the UIP Experience!

4-H teens ages 15-18 and still in High School are eligible for this 4-day service-learning experience that will build skills and abilities to prepare youth for success in a diverse workplace as well as build cultural understanding of those who are different.  This experience will not be about shopping or sightseeing, although we will visit some monuments and historic sites. The cost of the experience is $180.  Limited scholarship funds are also available.  All teen applicants will be contacted to complete an additional phone interview before selection.

Who: Teens ages 15-18 (by the date of the trip – still in High School)  –  Space is limited.

Where: Washington, DC (Washington Seminar Center – 201 4th St. SE, Washington, DC)                      

When: Thursday (6am), September 21st – Sunday, September 24th, 2023

Delegates Travel to National 4-H Congress

Congratulations to Jacob Berisford, Sadie Holman and Elizabeth Santa as they spent time last week at the 2022 National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia.

They were among Ohio’s State Project Award Winners in 2022 in Mechanical and Engineering Sciences, Beef and Companion Animals, respectively.

We congratulate Elizabeth on being chosen Flag Bearer for the Ohio delegation! All three delegates are shown together below following the Congress Gala on Monday night.

National 4-H Conference

The conference is focused on civic engagement, civic education, and personal development, so if that sounds like something your interested in, don’t hesitate! 2022 Fall Paper Clover Campaign at TSC

It’s Paper Clover time at your local Tractor Supply Company! The TSC Fall Paper Clover Campaign will run October 5-16, 2022 at all locations throughout the nation. Both forms can be found in multiple formats on the Teen Opportunities page of the website. Achievement Awards forms and the 4-H Committee Scholarship are due to the Licking County Extension Office by Friday, October 7, 2022. By completing the Achievement Awards forms, members have the opportunity to be recognized for their comprehensive project work and leadership activities and can be chosen to represent Licking County at the state level competition. Applicants are also eligible to apply for state trips/camps and other opportunities through this process. Members must be at least 14 (as of 01/01/2023) in order to be eligible for this process. Teen Awards and Opportunities Workshop

It’s time to start thinking about recognition opportunities for our many 4-H Members! All are welcome, but we especially encourage those parents and Advisors who will have teens age 14 (as of 01/01/23) – and those teens – to attend… Let us explain the many options, share some resources, and then give you some great examples to get you started! Let us know if you’re planning to attend, as we want to have plenty of handouts for everyone!
