REMINDER: Final 2025 Quality Assurance Trainings

Our FINAL Hartford Fair Livestock Quality Assurance (QA) Training for 2025 will take place soon! Any junior fair exhibitor that plans to show livestock at either the Hartford Fair or Ohio State Fair MUST complete an approved QA training by June 1, 2025 in order to be eligible to show in 2025. Please review the Junior Fair Livestock Quality Assurance Guidelines for all requirements and a list of approved trainings. Please ensure you have a plan to either attend an in-person training or complete the online YQCA module BEFORE June 1, 2025.

Our FINAL county-wide program will take place on Tuesday May 13, 2025 at 6:30pm at Johnstown Middle School.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • Photos for fair IDs will NOT be taken at QA programs in 2025. We will have a process similar to last year where members will be able to upload a photo themselves instead of having photos taken by fair staff. More details on that to come at a later date!
  • Only Licking County 4-H/FFA Quality Assurance Programs will address program changes and updated for the Hartford Fair. If you choose to attend another QA program or complete the YQCA online module, please ensure that you are watching for updates through the Licking County Extension and Hartford Fair websites and that you check in with your advisor(s) for updates and changes as well.
  • A special thank you to our county FFA chapters for hosting us for these trainings!

REMINDER: Market Hog IDs Due May 15

All Market Hogs intended to be shown at the Hartford Fair MUST UPLOAD THREE PHOTOS in to FairEntry by no later than May 15, 2025. One photo must be a side view of the animal, the second should be a front view, and the third must be a photo where the ear tag is in the hog’s ear and readable. Instructions are provided on the Hartford Fair website HERE. At the time of uploading photos, additional information such as the official RFID tag number, barrow or gilt, and animal markings description will be needed. A member may ID up to four hogs.

Members must also submit a Swine Tagging Form to the Hartford Fair Office by May 15, 2025. It is preferred that the tag be placed in the hog’s right ear when possible. This form is a fillable PDF and can be dropped off, mailed, or emailed to the Hartford Fair Office.

If a member’s hog is not housed at their home or at a property owned by their parent/guardian, they must also submit a Swine Housing Form. This form is also due to the Hartford Fair Office by May 15, 2025.

If you need an 840 tag for your hog, those can be purchased from the Hartford Fair Office for $5. Taggers are also available for you to borrow to tag your hogs. If exhibitors already have their own 840 tags, they may use those. If your hog already has an 840 tag in its ear, DO NOT tag them with a second 840 tag! Hogs should NEVER be tagged with more than one 840 tag.

A few things to note…

  • DO NOT submit your Market Hog IDs in 4-HOnline. Any photos submitted there will NOT meet the requirements and those hogs will not be eligible to show at the fair. ALL Market Hog IDs must be submitted through hartfordfair.fairentry.com.
  • When logging into FairEntry, if you have a youth project member enrolled through 4-HOnline, you will use the same email and password to log into the GREEN 4-HOnline box at hartfordfair.fairentry.com. If your youth is ALSO in FFA, you will still log in this way. If you have a youth who is enrolled in 4-H and another youth who is enrolled in FFA, you will still log in this way. Cloverbud Members and Advisors do NOT import into the FairEntry system.
  • If your youth is ONLY enrolled in FFA, you will need to login/create a profile using the BLUE FairEntry box below the 4-HOnline box.
  • Please do not wait until the last minute and reach out to Adrienne at anderson.1410@osu.edu if you have issues logging into FairEntry or submitting your IDs. Any questions about purchasing tags, borrowing the taggers, tagging your hogs, or the additional forms should be directed to the Hartford Fair Office at 740-893-4881.
