REMINDER: Farmers Share Breakfast

The Licking County Farm Bureau will host their annual Farmers Share Breakfast on the morning of Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 7:30-10:00am at C-TEC in Newark. They are excited to share that they will once again be featuring made-to-order omelets. All proceeds from this breakfast will support the Licking County 4-H Camping Program to help offset the cost to attend camp for all campers and counselors. There will also be raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing, special vendors, and a farm toy display contest. We hope to see you there!

Counselors and Staff Needed for Ohio 4-H Sea Camp!

What: Ohio 4-H Sea Camp Staff and Counselor Recruitment

Who: 4-H members or adults ages 18+ at the time of July 19, 2024

When: Applications are available now and due by April 15! Camp is July 19-23, 2024 with staff and counselors arriving on July 18 at Kelleys Island for required training.

If you are interested in being a staff member/instructor, please complete the staff application. Applications and references are due by April 15.

Ohio 4-H Adaptive Adventures Camp

Each summer, Ohio 4-H offers a camping experience for youth aged 8-adult who have unique needs that cannot be accommodated in a traditional camp setting. They typically have a small group of between 15-25 campers and their caregivers who spend the weekend doing all the normal camp things, modified for their needs. This year, Ohio 4-H Adaptive Adventures Camp will take plae at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp in Jackson, Ohio from June 14-16, 2024. 2024 Forestry Wildlife Camp

Information for Forestry Wildlife Camp is now available!

  • The Forestry Wildlife Camp is open to campers in grades 7-11.
  • Registration for camp is due March 28, 2024.
  • Campers can enjoy wildlife education, fishing, hiking, tree climbing, outdoor survival, ODNR careers & college opportunities, learning about forestry and more!

Raffle Baskets, Sponsors, and Help Needed for Farmers Share Breakfast

The Licking County Farm Bureau will hold their annual Farmers Share Breakfast on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 7:30-10:00am at CTEC in Newark. All of the donations, sponsorships, and proceeds from the day will go to benefit the Licking County 4-H Summer Camp by helping to offset the cost for all campers and counselors attending camp this summer. There are several ways that YOU can help to make this event a success:

  • Donate a raffle basket – we are in need of several baskets for the raffle. Consider donating a basket as a club, group, or business.
  • Become a sponsor – sponsorships are still available!
  • Volunteer to help – many hands make light work! Help is needed to set up, run the event, and tear down after. How can you help?
  • Come eat breakfast – please join us for made-to-order omelets and all the breakfast fixings! Cost to attend is by donation. There will also be vendors available, the basket raffle, farm displays, and a 50/50 drawing.
  • Spread the word – please share this event widely. We hope for a large turnout to raise funds for camp.

4-H Camp Ohio Open House

Are you a former camper? First year camper? Looking for a camp facility for your group? Well, 4-H Camp Ohio’s OPEN SEASON is the event for you!

Camp would like to welcome the 4-H Camp Ohio community, both old and new, to visit on Sunday April 21, 2024 anytime from 10:00am-4:00pm.

No registration required. BYO picnic lunch or purchase a light lunch in the Dining Hall. A selection of activities will be on offer for your enjoyment.

Ohio 4-H Junior Shooting Sports Camp

The Licking County 4-H Committee, in partnership with the Licking County 4-H Shooting Sports Committee, will be choosing two 4-H members, who are currently completing Grades 3-6, to participate in State 4-H Junior Shooting Sports Camp. State 4-H Junior Shooting Sports Camp is a residential camp, and will be held at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp in Jackson, Ohio during June 7-9, 2024.

Licking County 4-H members interested in applying must meet the following criteria:
• Active 4-H member during 2024 4-H project year
• Be currently completing grades 3-6
• Submit completed Achievement Award Form by the deadline (Friday, April 19th)
• Be available to participate in June 7-9, 2024 camp, and provide travel to camp event in Jackson, Ohio

Cost: The total cost of the trip is $250. The Licking County 4-H Shooting Sports Committee, in cooperation with the Licking County 4-H Committee, will cover 50% of registration costs for two delegates. The delegate will be responsible for $125.

Licking County 4-H delegates will be chosen based upon their involvement in the Licking County 4-H program (as noted in their application). All applications must be received in the Licking County Extension Office no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19h in order to be considered for selection. The application can be found HERE.

2024 Licking County 4-H Camping Dates

We know that families are planning out their summer and so we are excited to share our Licking County 4-H Camps Dates with you!

Mini Camp: May 10-11, 2024 at 4-H Camp Ohio

  • Single night camp designed for youth who are new to the 4-H Camping program or may be nervous about attending camp.
  • Must be a Licking County 4-H Project Member – age 8 AND in 3rd Grade OR age 9 regardless of grade up through age 13 as of 1/1/24.
  • Due to the amount of interest in this camp over the last few years, last year Cloverbud members will NOT be eligible to attend Mini Camp in 2024.

Cloverbud Day Camp: June 1, 2024 at 4-H Camp Ohio

  • Single day camp for youth Cloverbud age – age 5 AND in Kindergarten up through second grade as of 1/1/24.
  • Youth are NOT required to be enrolled as a Cloverbud to attend.

Summer Residential Camp: June 18-21, 2024 at 4-H Camp Ohio

  • Four day, three night residential camp for project member age youth – age 8 AND in 3rd grade OR age 9 regardless of grade up through age 15 as of 1/1/24.
  • Camp includes a variety of group activities, breakout sessions, campfire programs, and a wide variety of nature and outdoor programming.
