2023 4-H Advisor Training

Licking County 4-H Advisors! A reminder to make sure that you are planning to attend one of the THREE advisor trainings that are being held this year. We would love to see as many of you as possible attend the first training on Saturday, January 28th at Licking Valley Elementary. Not only will this be the first opportunity to get your club packet, but after the training we will have a resource fair immediately after the training. We have worked to gather resources and community groups from around the county that we think will be beneficial to your work as a club advisor. If you are unable to attend the training on January 28th, please be sure to let Lisa McCutcheon know which of the other two trainings you will be attending. The other two trainings will be at the Extension Office so space is limited and we will not have the resource fair following the training at the two later dates.

WHEN / WHERE: We encourage you to mark your calendar for Saturday, January 28th (9:00 a.m.) at Licking Valley Elementary School no registration necessary, as we hope that all of you can attend! But…if you’re not available for that session, please email Lisa McCutcheon to let us know if you need to attend one of the alternative dates (February 16th or 21st / 6-8:00 p.m.), which will be held here at the Extension Office. Because those two dates are considered back-up, and have a much smaller capacity than that January 28th date, YOU MUST REGISTER ASAP if you plan to attend February 16th or February 21st trainings.

LOCATION: Licking Valley Elementary School: We will be meeting in the cafeteria. You can enter from either side of the building, with parking on both sides as well as the back. If you park in the back, you will need to walk around front to the cafeteria entrance. You are also welcome to park around the loop, if space permits – but stay off the grass! We would certainly encourage carpooling, as we hope to have at least 180 advisors in attendance, and the school will also be hosting basketball games that same morning (they will be using different entrance)…

WHAT: If you’re planning to attend the January 28th training (and we really hope you will), you’ll participate in a training update from 9-11:00 a.m., and then have time from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to enjoy the newly added RESOURCE FAIR! We will have a trade show area set up for you to ask questions, look at new materials, interact with key resource leaders, etc. – or you can just take a few minutes to sit and speak with other advisors about what’s working for them! That time is for YOU! We want to support you, and the Resource Fair can serve that purpose! Note: If you must attend the February 16th / 21st dates, please know that only training will be provided due to space and time limitations. Note: We are not holding a Discover 4-H event immediately after the training, as it had been held in the past. Discover 4-H is being held on other dates, and in other locations…

WHY: All 4-H Club Advisors within the state of Ohio are required to attend an annual training. This training will include an introduction to anything that’s new, review of any issues that have been encountered over the past year, reminder about the important dates and deadline, emphasis on new tasks that may be needed, etc. Training is intended to support you and provide you with information and resources that will make your work as an advisor more enjoyable, more manageable, and more rewarding!
