The National 4-H Summit for Healthy Living is a pioneer in the National Youth Summit Series, bringing together teen health leaders from across the country to focus on learning about and solving healthy living issues impacting our homes, our community and our economy.
Designed for grades 9 through 12, the Summit provides the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills to address today’s issues facing nutrition education, physical fitness, wellness and emotional well-being.
In the past we have taken Ohio 4-H Health Heroes to the in-person summit. The summit this year got moved from February to April due to the pandemic and travel restrictions that were in place in January. They decided to offer a separate in-person and virtual opportunity for youth and adults to attend this year. The Healthy Living Design Team is taking a small delegation of youth to the in-person summit but we wanted to offer all Ohio 4-H youth and adults to take part in the virtual Healthy Living Summit at your own cost. The summit is designed for groups to go and youth are expected to create community action plans and implement those plans after the summit. Justin is planning on leading the Ohio 4-H delegation and will be our contact with National on the summit. Here’s a layout of the information:
When: Monday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 12, from 6-9pm both days
What: There will be a speaker each day, 2 workshops from the six health tracts each day, a cooking demo, and a career panel.
