YQCA Update

For any 4-H families who have utilized the YQCA online Quality Assurance certification training modules, this message is for you! YQCA is moving to a new program platform online, and for this reason, you need to know the following:

  • If the 4-H / FFA member completed the YQCA online certification program since October 1, 2021, intending it to fulfill your 2022 QA certification requirement, you need to go online and download their certificate and send it to Lisa McCutcheon at mccutcheon.46@osu.edu. This will allow the training to count toward your 2022 requirement.
  • If the member has not yet completed the YQCA online certification, but is planning to do so for 2022, please be sure to WAIT UNTIL AFTER MARCH 23, when the system is scheduled to switch over to the new platform.  Lisa McCutcheon will begin publicizing YQCA options once she knows that they are up and running, ready for new certifications.

For those who are unfamiliar with YQCA, you need to take no action at this time, and will become more familiar with this training option later in the spring. YQCA is a national, online training program for Livestock Quality Assurance certification. This program charges a user fee of $12 per youth to complete, and is not an option for adult volunteer / advisor training. This is one of many options for completing QA certification, and one of the only options that charges a fee. It can be helpful in some situations, but is not encouraged for beginner level project members.

What is the Licking County River Round Up?

The Licking County River Round Up is an annual, county-wide river cleanup event in September on the Saturday after Labor Day. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2022. This community event brings out hundreds of volunteers who pull tires, shopping carts and mountains of trash from the Licking River and its tributaries.

Through this amazing community-based conservation effort, a river system that had all but been abandoned, has seen a beautiful rebirth of aquatic and bird life. The event is coordinated by the Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District in partnership with many local agencies and organizations – including the Licking County Health Department.
