Personal Development

I have learned a lot about myself over the first semester. Throughout this past couple of months, my former fixed mindset has transformed into a growth mindset that ultimately, impacts my social, academic, physical, and emotional life more positively. Back in high school, I accepted failure profusely and failed to realize that I can grow into a better person from that failure. I underestimated myself and did not recognize that I have yet to reach my fullest potential; however, now that I am in college, I realized that my failures are opportunities for me to grow into the person that I am meant to be. Challenges, such as midterms or the lack of grades in college, have allowed me to grow and I have learned to do anything that I want and put my mind towards. All of the hard work and effort that I have put towards my academia and studying will pay off in return of my high grades and the facile exams that I will encounter. Now, I even attend my professors and teaching assistants’ office hours in order to gain a more better understanding of the material that we went through in lecture. When I was stuck in my fixed mindset, I did not like to be challenged and I stuck to my usual studying habits of reading the textbook. Yet, now, I am participating in study groups, taking practice exams, quizzing myself and my peers, and more that have all beneficially impacted my mindset. Overall, this positive growth mindset that I have had throughout college has proved to be a less stressful aspect of my life and I have found that I am in a better place mentally and physically.
