Welcome to Practice & Science for LGBTQ+ Health Equity, a research lab of Dr. Joanne Patterson.
Who.
PS: LGBTQ+ Health Equity represents the efforts of scientists and practitioners at The Ohio State University and other institutions. It was created by Joanne G. Patterson, PhD, MPH, MSW, Assistant Professor in the College of Public Health at The Ohio State University.
What.
Our mission is to support interdisciplinary and translational research and community-based practice dedicated to eliminating health inequities in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) communities. We conduct research and practice that:
- engages LGBTQ+ community members as experts
- identifies multilevel determinants of health inequities among LGBTQ+ populations
- develops innovative, culturally responsive, evidence-based interventions
- is accessible to scientific, practice, policy, and general audiences.
Why.
Our lab aims to connect researchers and practitioners to highlight LGBTQ+ health equity-related research and community practice.
We think it’s important to provide LGBTQ+ community members with information about health-related studies they may be interested in participating in – as well as the researchers behind those studies. We hope our efforts will also highlight LGBTQ+ community programs who are interested in collaborating with researchers at The Ohio State University.
