About Me

graduation5About me:

I have lived my whole life in Chardon, Ohio (population 5184). Throughout high school, I participated in golf, soccer, and track. I participated in Buckeye Boys State in between my junior and senior years and I was involved in National Honor Society from my sophomore-senior years. In my free time I love to fish and play golf.

Before high school,  I had never really thought about my future. My mindset was that I did not have to worry about what I did because it would not affect my life in the long run.  It was not until the summer before my freshman year that my way of thinking changed.  My church was sponsoring a missions trip to Damascus, Virginia and I decided that I wanted to get involved. The goal of the trip was to meet with families in need and help to repair their homes. The family that I was helping told us their story and it really made me think. The women that lived there did not own the house but it was her boyfriends. I never got the chance to meet her boyfriend, but it did not sound like she was in a positive relationship. While listening to her life story and hearing about her hardships, I realized that I wanted to make the most of my life.

I try to always be very organized and I keep a journal in which I write down goals that I set for myself. After coming back from that missions trip, I set a goal for myself to graduate at the top of my class as a valedictorian. At my high school, being a valedictorian is very difficult for an honors student. Most people would think that it should be easier for an honors student, but my high school did not weight grades so an A in multi-variable calculus (which I took my senior year) is worth the exact same as an A in extended algebra. Despite this, I decided to take all the honors and AP classes I could and through hard work I achieved my goal of graduated as a valedictorian.

Throughout high school, I discovered that I learn the best through hands-on examples and being able to visually see what is going on. However, this style of learning was not utilized in a majority of my classes. I was forced to find other ways to learn and discovered that writing things down multiple times works well to help me to remember them.

Some of my goals during my time at Ohio State are to graduate with a 3.75 GPA and to get involved with at least 3 student organizations. Currently I want to be a part of Buck-I-SERV but I know there are nearly an endless amount of opportunities to get involved so I am going to give everything a chance. One career goal that I have for myself is to get an internship the summer after my freshman year.
