My G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness

  • About six years ago, I decided to study abroad from Korea to America to experience different kinds of education systems around the world, so that I can compare the strengths and weaknesses of each different education systems.
  • Recently, my entire family decided to move to America because my brother and I have discovered more possibilities and opportunities to brighten our academic enrichment and future with international experience, and my parents also decided to strengthen their careers with global experiences.
  • In the future, I am very open to where I shall start and continue my career. It can be in America, it can be back in Korea, or it can be anywhere else! Learning different languages and pursuing global studies are preparing myself to do so smoothly.

Original Inquiry

  • Up to high school, I have conducted numerous research on controversial topics such as death penalty and animal testing so that I stay awake to contemporary social issues.
  • In this semester, I am conducting a research to find out the effects of video gaming toward young people’s brains, for this is continuing to be a controversial topic in Korean society and government.
  • I intend to continue conducting much more research in the future so that I would have my own solid ideologies and beliefs on social topics that would directly or indirectly affect my life.

Academic Enrichment

  • I have found math to be the clearest, the most objective, and the most reasonable way to observe our world. I ended up finishing every single most rigorous math course in my high school. I have enjoyed sharing what I have experienced with math, so since I decided to become a math teacher for the first time of my life, it has never changed.
  • I feel most happy when I help my peers on their math with the best of my ability. I am currently also challenging myself with the most rigorous math course that a freshman is allowed to take.
  • I am willing to pay my best effort throughout my college life to maximize my ability to math so that I can give out all that knowledge back to the world.

Leadership Development

  • I enjoy helping the collective idea of the majority of a population to be realized with compromised as best. In high school, I had served as the president for 4 different organizations, as a class vice president, and as many other officers.
  • Currently, outside of school, I am leading roles in numerous community where Korean students who study in America. I help them utilize various methods to help each other, find similar interests or hobbies, and simply have fun together. In school, I serve leading roles in Korean community by planning out events as KISO and being the voice of KBS.
  • I am willing to not only continue to serve these honorable roles, but also keep looking for new different opportunities to lead my people for them to live a better life in general.

Service Engagement

  • Since I had decided to become a teacher and give out what I had learned to the rest of the world, the dream has never changed for a single time. I have always been looking for opportunities to reach out to peers and other students who need help and find the best way for them to understand their materials.
  • Even today, I feel I am alive the most when someone, from my help, finally understand what they have been unable to understand. I try not to wait for them to find me for help, but rather I try to go find them first and use the best of my ability to help them.
  • I know for sure my life-long mission is to shine for others, not for myself, to direct them with my light. This will be finalized when I finish my career as a teacher.
