Community Beef Tour Heads South
The Ohio Beef Study Group is a community led group of agriculturalists that have been traveling together for decades to learn more about agriculture, meet interesting people, and see interesting places. This fall the group is headed South through Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and West Virginia from Tuesday, September 25 to Saturday, September 29.
The trip is organized by and composed primarily of Ohio beef producers with the help of OSU Extension. Stops on this year’s tour will include livestock operations, artisan food and craft producers, ornamental gardens, university research stations, and more. Great food and entertainment will also be enjoyed along the way.
Pick-up and drop-off points will be in Mt. Gilead and Cambridge, Ohio. From Cambridge, the bus will travel South through Cincinnati, OH, Lexington, KY, Nashville, TN, Chattanooga, TN, and Jasper, GA. Then head North through Gatlinburg, TN, Knoxville, TN, Beckley, WV, and back to Cambridge and Mt. Gilead. The trip will last five days and four nights. The complete list of destinations and calculation of trip cost will be finalized soon.
The trip is open to anyone with an interest in agriculture. A limited number of seats are still available for the tour. To reserve a space on the bus, interested parties will need to turn in $150 deposit per traveler to the Ohio Beef Study Group Secretary/Treasurer- Judy Minyo ASAP. Roommates are encouraged and may be matched by request.
Additional information about the tour or instructions for submitting a deposit can be acquired by calling the Noble County OSU Extension Office at 740-732-5681 or emailing gelley.2@osu.edu.
We hope that you will consider joining us on this wonderful journey!
