In 2019, The Lawrence County Teen Leaders set out to provide educational, fun activities to our 4-H Cloverbuds. 4-H Cloverbud’s are 4-H members ages 5 and in Kindergarten to age 8. The teens worked with the Lawrence County 4-H Educator to develop a 6-week educational series of lessons to introduce each 4-H project area, in hopes to encourage youth to explore different interest areas related to possible future 4-H projects. The lessons also touched on the 4-H’s: Head, Heart, Hands, and Health; as each lesson provided skill development (Head), service learning (Heart), activity centered (Hands), and Health (games and/or healthy snacks).
The Lawrence County Teen Leaders hosted a stand alone event for each discovery series topic for one hour every 3 weeks during our primary 4-H Club involvement period within the county, March – August. However, these activities could be replicated by 4-H Cloverbud Advisors, older teens, etc. in club meetings, fair activities, and community events at any time throughout the 4-H year.
The teens chose activities by using Ohio 4-H Cloverbud resources: https://ohio4h.org/cloverbudresources and other Ohio 4-H project materials; therefore some activities may require resources available through http://ohio4h.org and county extension offices.
