2020 Lawrence County 4-H & FFA Livestock Exhibitor News & Updates

Are you a Lawrence County 4-H & FFA Livestock Exhibitor, parent, or advisor? If so, this is a must read…

The Ohio State University Extension, Lawrence County Livestock 4-H Committee is continuously working and listening to our 4-H members and parents to update rules and recommendations to provide our youth with the most positive, consistent, good production practices, livestock experience. As evident with the recent ractopamine-free consumer market demand, livestock production practices are always changing and we as good stewards need to move with the change.

Most species have at least one change for the 2020 year, some bigger than others. The Lawrence County Fairboard’s official stance on ractopamine is still forthcoming, however the OSU Extension, Lawrence County Livestock 4-H Committee has provided a ractopamine-free recommendation as we are quickly approaching the purchase of livestock animals. Quality Assurance expectations and options have been updated… we have even listened to suggestions since our last Quality Assurance announcement and have made some age changes to the required beginner training.
