value schemes. I found these to be very helpful. Using many different values helps to create the illusion of dimension.
George Seurat, trees. I found this sketch to be very good at creating dimension with. charcoal. The trees in the distance aren’t as detailed as the ones in the forefront.
Nicolas Poussin, the holy family on the steps. The use of ink would be intimidating for me personally, but the dimension was created with ease by this artist. I found it interesting that some items within the picture are just outlined in black with little to no effort of shade range. I would think that it would stand out more but it looks effortless.
Andrew Wyeth and the watercolor painting. I have never been talented with the use of watercolor paints. The technique of creating values in this image seems very well done. I find it fascinating that he is able to manipulate the movement of water paints to create the range of value seen here.
The charcoal image of the pottery is very well done. The points of brightness and darkness are portrayed seamlessly and with what I would consider minimal effort of subjects, being just pottery and not a living thing such as plants.
