A Conversation with Cesar Vargas – Monday, Feb 5th at 7:00 PM

How does someone come to be the first undocumented barred attorney in the State of New York? How does someone come to help lead national advocacy efforts on behalf of DACA recipients? In this conversation with Cesar Vargas, we’ll ask these and other questions and give audience members an opportunity to learn more about one man’s extraordinary journey.

Cesar works at the heart of the DREAMer movement. Nationwide and on Capitol Hill, Cesar and his organization he co-founded, the Dream Action Coalition, have been key players in the policy battle for a better immigration policy. His advocacy and story helped in the national efforts to convince President Obama to take executive action to create the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Latinx Events this Week (Jan 14 – 20)

BELLA & SUR Cohort Meetings – Thursday, Jan 18th

The purpose of Balancing Education, Life, and Latina Awareness (BELLA) is to create a multi-generational community of Latinas who actively work towards solidarity, leadership, and community wellness at The Ohio State University. We guide this program, based in the seven principles: truth, justice, righteousness, reciprocity, balance, harmony, and order.

BELLA meets every other week on Thursdays from 5-6:30PM in the Alonso Family Room (in the MCC). Free food is provided at each meeting.

The purpose of Strength, Unity, & Respect (SUR) is to create a network of students, staff, and faculty that share a philosophy of support and brotherhood. Our ambitions are to: * challenge the status quo, * establish an academic community, * provide support to promote Latino academic success, and * use of mentorship to promote community.

SUR meets every other week on Thursdays from 6-7:30PM in the Alonso Family Room (in the MCC).
