Year in Review

My first semester as a college student was one of much transition. It started off well. I was able to do well on my coursework and still be able to work out. My mind and body were both sharp. However, as the coursework started to ramp up in the middle of the semester, I started to struggle. Despite the struggles, I worked as hard as I could; most of the time it did not work out but this did not deter me from continuing my efforts. I finished out the semester strongly. My grades were not as good as I hope they would be. This was the first time in my life that I really struggled in school. I would try my hardest yet sometimes to no avail. This has given me a sense of empathy for those who struggle in school. Before this semester, I did not see how people could fail if they tried their best to succeed. I have much more perseverance than I did before college. College has also prepared me for a life of my own. It’s a great step into the life of an adult. I have also made a lot more friends through my classes and Mount. I have also strengthened some relationships from high school. I used to be much more into video games before school started but then I did not have enough time to play games so I lost some interest in video games. I gained some new interests like listening to music and watching TV shows. I am going to work even harder this semester and now that I have a semester under my belt I believe I am prepared to have a very successful semester.

G.O.A.L.S.

I would not say that any goal of mine coincides with the Global awareness initiative of Honors and Scholars. However, everyday I thrive to live by the golden rule which is to treat everyone the way I would want to be treated. As I have since grade school, one of my goals is to get A’s in all of my classes. Even though sometimes this does not happpen, this goal ensures that I am always putting 110% towards my academics. One of my long term future goals is to become the head coach of an NFL team. Ever since I found football, I have had a connection to it that I cannot explain. My dream would be to work in the NFL. This goal requires a lot of leadership which coincides with the leadership development initiative of Honors and Scholars. I also plan to do around 80 hours of service by the end of the school year. I plan to do most of these hours at the East Broad Street Food Pantry. I may also try to do some volunteering with the OSU football team if I am given the opportunity once again as I was last year.

Artifacts: Campion Society

Based on the results of my entrance exam for Walsh Jesuit, I was inducted into the Campion Society. This was because I scored in the top 2% nationally on the test. Going into high school was a very nerve wrenching moment. This made me more confident in my knowledge and my ability to perform well at school. It also was my last achievement that I gained during grade school. It really was the epitome of all the hard work I put into school up to that point of my life. I worked hard and it payed off. It helped to show me the importance of hard work. It gave me some momentum going into high school. The award was given to me by Walsh Jesuit. If I chose to go to Walsh (which I did), I would be given benefits that other students would not receive. One such advantage was being able to take honors courses my freshman year. This provided me with a rigorous schedule that has prepared me well for college.
