I was born and raised in northern Virginia near Washington, D.C. where I remained until I went to college at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. Through college and into married life, I discovered a love of nursing, but even more a love teaching others about nursing. Constantly I have been surrounded by people in my life who are educators: my mom, my 2 younger sisters, my 2 sister-in-laws, my brother-in-law, my husband, and every one of my college roommates, even the one who started in nursing, ended up in education. Perhaps being around these important people in my life is what sparked my passion to want to teach, or maybe it is the satisfaction rewarded to me after precepting a new nurse to my unit. No matter what caused the spark, I know I want to teach nursing students how to provide compassionate, safe, quality care to all.
