Our laboratory is the product of two scientific traditions. One traces its origins to the 19th century giants of organic chemistry through William Evans, whose contributions to physical science research, training and service continue to impact this campus. The other originates in the Nobel prize winning elucidation of signal transduction mechanisms in the nervous system. We seek to uphold these traditions by applying the rigor of physical science inquiry to the neuroscience problem of adult-onset neurodegenerative disease. We also serve the broader research community through operation of the Interdisciplinary Resource Network for Protein Polymorphisms in AD/ADRD, and engage in campus-wide training of predoctoral students through an NIH-sponsored T32 training program in Molecular Biophysics.
