Columbus To Do List: Part 1

I chose to explore the different ice cream and dessert destinations Columbus has to offer. I am looking forward to trying the popular sweet treats near me. I hope to find a spot I can stop by for a quick treat if I’m looking to feed a craving. Two places I have gone so far are Eden Burger and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. Eden Burger is a completely vegan restaurant that offers burgers, shakes, and fries. I decided to get a strawberry shake to see if it would compare to a full dairy shake. I can’t say it was the best shake I’ve ever had, but it definitely seems like it would be a great alternative for anyone who doesn’t eat dairy. I also went to Jeni’s and tried the Atlantic Beach Pie flavored ice cream. It was really delicious and made the gloomy day seem a lot brighter!

Journal #2

met with my mentor Aaron Stant, and we met in the Torres House Kitchen for about a half an hour on September 30. We met up as a group for dinner at curl market about a week ago to get to know each other better. I learned about sophomore housing, his plans for after college, and some of his favorite scholars memories. I really liked learning more about him and his interests. I feel like I got to know him better because of this interview. He talked a bit about the STEP program and how it is a great opportunity for sophomores to explore more academically which is very appealing to me. After this interview, I feel very comfortable about reaching out in the future.
