Communication

Nurses serve as a communicator and coordinator between student, family, and educational professionals. As a school nurse, communication is vital to relay necessary information to students, staff, parents, and healthcare providers to maintain the health of the students and district. Continuing coordination, communication, and collaboration between all members of the educational team, student, family, and community is important to promote health services and the overall well-being of each student. Below are a few examples of letters developed to send to parents/guardians as communication about health related aspects throughout the school year.

My first letter of communication to parents/guardians to address the screening requirement for elementary school students based on school Health Services and Ohio Department of Health policies related to health screenings. This letter is intended to be sent out via school newsletter the month before school begins, as a reminder to parents.

Screening Letter

My second letter of communication to parents/guardians addresses the growth and development teaching to be presented to 5th graders.  It highlights contents, resources, and permission from parents.
