About Me

Hello! My name is Rita Kret, I’m currently a second-year, and I’m studying Chemical Engineering. Currently, I am a TA for the FEH program, as well as a member of Buckeye Solar Racing, where we build and race a solar vehicle!

My interest in the field started when I was a sophomore in high school and attended a presentation by a professor who was researching the use of photosynthesis as a source of renewable energy. The idea that the answer to our energy problems was such a plentiful resource intrigued me, and I hope to develop cheaper, more efficient solar energy in the future. I’m also very interested in the intersection between engineering and social justice, especially in the Middle East.

Studying languages is another one of my passions; I hope to continue my French studies by getting a minor in French, and I’ve spoken Arabic since I was a child. In my free time, I like to read, embroider, and go on walks. I just recently joined the birdwatching club as well, so hopefully I’ll learn enough to go birding by myself!
