Project Statement

This work represents the designs I have done for Ohio State Football social media in my role as the graphic design intern. They represent the graphics utilized by the team for branding, identity, and promotion, as well as the extensive recruiting efforts that help make Ohio State a leader in attracting top student-athletes to its program. Unlike a company brand that may remain fixed, the Ohio State football brand evolves consistently to communicate messaging about each player and the team as a whole, and I have been an integral part of that evolution this season, working alongside Chris Charizopoulos, the team’s director of creative design and branding. The use of scarlet, black, grey, and white was adopted this season by Chris to frame the theme of “Fight to the End. I work to incorporate the colors, the players, iconic spaces around campus, and various shapes and lines to tie together the branding guidelines and ensure that the Ohio State brand is evident and recognizable even at a glance of every design I produce.

Reflection

This is the work of which I am most proud, as it reflects a lifelong journey to work in the athletic creative space. While many people have a passion for sports, my passion has always been in sports creative design. Instead of playing video games as a kid, I drew sports jersey designs and logos. A photoshop course at the Wexner Center for the Arts when I was in middle school allowed me to focus my effort on the digital space, and my hobbies have long included designing team brands. The ability to work in the Ohio State Football creative space has allowed me to expand significantly my design skills and focus and further ignited my passion to work in this space.
