Columbus Blue Jackets 20th Anniversary Logo/ Branding

Project Statement

The Columbus Blue Jackets revealed a new logo for their 20th anniversary and that inspired me to come up with my own logo and brand. The logo was inspired by logos of the past and my desire to bring all the team’s past design looks into one cohesive vision. I made two alternate versions for utilization on alternate and retro reverse-related material. I then created print and social graphics to spread awareness and keep a consistent look across all platforms to become recognizable with every application. 

 

Reflection

When the Blue Jackets unveiled their anniversary logo I was not impressed, so I wanted to test myself to see if I could make something that looked and felt better integrated to the team history and place in the city. I was born the same year the Blue Jackets entered the NHL, and I have been interested in their look much of my life–even wearing my own Blue Jackets jersey when I played travel hockey. It was a personal quest for me to mix my combined passion for design and the Blue Jackets into one creative project.
