My artifact is a squash trophy that I won this summer. I didn’t win 1st place, but I had my best performances in this tournament, where I beat 2 people who were significantly favored to win the match. It’s important to me because it was physical evidence of all the training and hard work that I put in for the months and even year before the tournament. I started playing in high school while all my opponents started in elementary and middle school, so they were always more experienced and talented than me. For the last year I’ve put in countless hours improving my game, and the results from this tournament were proof of that. The trophy serves as motivation for the future, because I realized that if you’re doing the right things and working hard, the results will show eventually.
