Medical Volunteer Experience:
The Ohio State Medical Center (June-August 2012, 2013):

  • Volunteered as a Student Ambassador and a Floor Assistant
  • Observed multiple medical settings, issues, and treatments through shadowing medical professionals and interacting with patients
  • Completed 60 hours of service assisting with floor cleanup and transporting patients through the Ohio State Wexner Center, Ross Heart Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, and Harding Mental rehabilitation Center

Mount Carmel East Hospital (June-August 2012, 2013):

  • Volunteered in Nutrition services and observed the process behind distributing hospital food
  • Made sure the correct food was distributed to ensure patient safety
  • Completed 60 hours delivering food carts to patients in Emergency Room,  maternity center, cancer center, and mental instability center

  • Health Science Scholar (HSS) Program (August 2014-Present):
  • Competitive and community program for health-related careers involving 40 hours of  service, weekly survey course, and medical events
  • American Red Cross Internship (May 2015 – Present):
  • Coordinate, manage, and set up blood drives
  • Assist with the recruitment of donors
  • Interact with donors and workers at the blood drive
  • American Red Cross Blood Services (December 2014 – Present):
  • Help blood donors register and ensure their safety
  • Making sure the donors get right nutrition after donating blood
  • Ohio State James Cancer Hospital (January-Present):
  • Assist patients & guests around the hospital
  • Prepared lunch and snacks for the patients
  • Monitor condition of family members of patients
  • Food Pantry (November 2014):
  • Helped prepare food for people in need
  • Distributed meals and cleaned up the kitchen
  • Rotary Club Olympics Columbus (February 2015):
  • Managed a group of disadvantaged kindergarten children through a series of health activity
  • Taught children about healthy eating habits and necessary exercises
  • Crohns and Colitis Foundation (CCFA) (June 2014,2015):
  • Set up a walkathon for fundraising
  • Raised money towards CCFA
  • Nationwide Children’s Hospital Shadowing (August 2015)

  • High School Honor Roll
  • Blues and Jazz Festival, Creekside Events (August 2013):
  • Volunteered as an parking attendant and assisted in set up of festival infrastructure for 10 hours
  • Interact Club (2012, 2013):
  • Set up charity events and created quilts for GRIN (Gahanna Residents in Need)
  • Raised money for Gahannathon to fight cancer and participated in yard work for the elderly
  • Volunteered for Freshman registration and food distribution at school church
  • Speech and Debate (2011-2014):
  • Participated in United States Extemporaneous speech event and researched current national and foreign issues
  • Practiced speaking skills and developed a public speaking ability
  • Actively mentored new members and help the new members develop oratory and presentation skills

Through my experiences, I have developed great leadership skills and the ability to communicate with others. I am able to adapt to different situations, even if something unexpected occurs.
