Quotation: “There are things money can’t buy, but these days, not many. Almost everything is up for sale” (Sandel, 2012, p.145).

Summary: In the article “what isn’t for sale”, Sandel (2012) discusses about the line between an ethical sale and purchase. The author argues that the logic of buying and selling not only applies to the material goods but also it gradually rules the whole life. Some people believe that markets, not government, held the key to prosperity and freedom, but the author believes that the markets has been detached from moral. Some people say that the market allocates social goods equally; however, author argues that market creates inequality and corruption. Lastly, the author claims that the way to make a healthier public life is through the appropriate place of markets.

The reason why I chose this article is that I think this article depicts what today society is. As the capitalism taken over everywhere, I think the moral of our society have been declining, especially in the US. This article perfectly points out what will happen if everything became sellable, and why everything should not be sellable. Today, I see many corruptions because of too much opulence among people, and I see inequality between rich and poor growing bigger and bigger. I think this article provides great advices and solution to prevent these problems. The reason why I chose this picture is that I think this picture is the perfect illustration of my article. The reason why I chose this quotation is that this quotation is the pretty much the main thesis of this article. The quotation shows the main idea and the main points really well.
