About Me

Biography

I am a third-year animal sciences major at The Ohio State University with a minor in entomology. Being raised in Atlanta, the world of agriculture is a completely novel journey that I began in the fall of 2015.  The past three years have been filled with adventure as I discovered what ecotourism entails in Nicaragua, what sustainable development looks like in Tanzania, and how the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) unites a variety of educational disciplines.

Why I decided to pursue Global Option

I decided to pursue the global option because I have traveled to many places including China, Taiwan, Peru, Nicaragua, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Tanzania. I always felt incredibly immersed in the culture and experience while I was abroad, but upon returning to the states, I struggled to articulate my experiences. And so the global option has helped me to culminate my experiences in an fluent manner so that I am able to confidently share my experiences.

My Goal for Global Options

By the end of this course, I hope improve my critical thinking and fluency so that I am able to professionally engage in international conversations. Critical thinking will encompass synthesizing and contrasting ideas and cultural values, which can help better disseminate information that can then be used to analyze sustainable solutions. Fluency will facilitate meaningful conversations through its understanding of various approaches and viewpoints. Together these two attributes will help contribute to my long-term aspiration of participating in international community development. I foresee myself in research that focuses on balancing environmental conservation with global food security.
