Each member’s concepts were scored according to the following criteria:
  • Stability – The AEV’s ability to stay on the track without tipping over and adjust to changing track conditions such as slopes and carrying a caboose.
  • Safety – The AEV’s ability to complete the run safely by minimizing damages caused by accidents or misfires.
  • Weight/Size – The AEV’s overall size and weight. High weight/large size can result in detrimental performance or overall cost of AEV.
  • Cost Efficiency – The cost to construct the AEV as well as complete the run.
