There are many problems, or pains, experienced by students, faculty, and visitors of campus during the cold winter months, including:

  • The snow and slush that remains on the sidewalk makes student’s feet cold.
  • Excessive physical energy that required in the winter to walk through snowy walkways with heavy winter outerwear.
  • Students may get frostbite in their hands and feet if they do not have proper winter outerwear. This may specifically impact underprivileged students on campus.
  • Walking in the ice and snow increases the risk of injuries to students, faculty, and staff. This may be especially problematic for elder members of campus.
  • Many students, specifically out of state and international students, may have never experienced ice and snow in the winter, and therefore may not be prepared to walk 20 minutes in extreme winter conditions.

Our Solution will provide many advantage to these problems, including:

  • Fewer injuries from slipping on unsafe sidewalks.
  • Less walking and faster travel across campus would allow students to be in harsh weather conditions for less time.
  • There will be no need to trudge through snow. The need for heavy winter footwear will diminish.
  • It will create a more comfortable way for students to get across campus in harsh weather conditions.
