Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. G.O.A.L.S.

Every individual has goals, small goals, long term goals, personal goals, a variety of goals.  Honors & Scholars students have goals just like that but goals also stands for much more to them.  Honors & Scholars students have G.O.A.L.S.   This stands for Global Awareness, Original Inquiry, Academic Enrichment, Leadership Development, and Service Engagement.  Each of these aspects of the Honors & Scholars G.O.A.L.S. means a lot to me.

Global Awareness: Through my course work and the diverse classes I am taking I am learning about many worldly topics.  I hope to continue to learn about fascinating topics through my classes at OSU.  Sometime throughout my four years here I hope to study abroad, hopefully over in Europe.  There I can travel to several countries and learn all about their cultures.  I am on team Global for Mount Scholars Legacy Week.  With this team I will be creating a service project that aims to help a global need.

Original Inquiry: I plan to do a lot of undergraduate research in order to prepare for medical school and build my resume.

Academic Enrichment: Right now I am taking mostly GEC’s in order to complete requirements.  Soon I will begin to take my major specific classes.  As a Biology major on a pre-med track I will be partaking in many rigorous curricular experiences with an end goal of medical school.

Leadership Development: I am a member 0f the Mount Leadership Society Scholars.  Through this program we aim to build leadership skills and apply them to every aspect of our lives.  I have learned a lot about my personality thus far and hope to continue to learn and develop my leadership skills through service work and school activities.

Service Engagement: Each month I participate in service work through my scholars program.  I am also working on one large service project with a group of students that will be enacted in Spring semester.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.   For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Artifacts

I have always been very passionate about medicine.  My family is very medically oriented.  My mom and both my sisters are nurses and my dad is a doctor.  My dad and his love for his career has always inspired me and for as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a doctor.  I used to play with this artifact all the time as a little kid.  I would go around and check everyone’s heartbeat and try to fix them.  It is my dad’s stethoscope.  He wears it around his neck everyday and it is truly a symbol of what the medical profession means to me.  It is something so simple yet completely necessary as a part of a doctor’s everyday life.  Although I am not yet in medical school and I don’t have my own stethoscope, my dad’s stethoscope has always been a form of motivation for me to achieve my goals.  I look forward to the day I get to use my own stethoscope for the first time.

eportfolio profile picture

My name is Caroline Klopp and I am a first year Biology major and Mount Scholar at The Ohio State University.  I have always enjoyed leadership and service work which is why the Mount Scholar’s program is perfect for me and I cannot wait to fully take advantage of all the opportunities this program will provide me.  I have always had a very deep faith.  I enjoy practicing my faith.  My faith is what most motivates me to participate in service work and mission trips.  I also enjoy listening and performing music.  I enjoy using my talents to cheer up and entertain everyone.  Along with music I am really passionate about the medical field.  I grew up in family of mostly medical professionals.  I want to stick with the Klopp family trend and pursue medicine.  I am hoping to attend medical school and become a doctor.  I hope to continue helping the world throughout my career.  I believe life is a series of serendipitous moments and I like to spread positivity and happiness through everything that I do and I hope to do that all throughout my career at Ohio State and all throughout my future.
